Come join the fun at the Brooklyn Fashion + Design Accelerator for the kick off of 2018’s Fashion Revolution, a week of activism and fashion transparency held around the anniversary of the Rana Plaza collapse. Elizabeth Cline is a special guest of the event alongside NYC-based used clothing collector Wearable Collections. Cline and Wearable Collections are providing pre-owned textiles for weaving demonstrations with The Weaving Hand. Participants will have a chance to learn how to use table looms to weave works of art and to show that “clothing is not garbage.”Get ready to create!On display will be Tara St James’ Weaving Hand Sweatshirt to demonstrate how waste can be elevated into something beautiful as well as Noor Zaaka’s Denim Mosaic Coat.

That same week, Fashion Revolution kicks off their #whomademyclothes social media activism campaign, which happens at the time of the Rana Plaza factory collapse, where 1,138 people were killed and many more injured on 24th April 2013. In addition to the weaving project, FR USA is launching a week of Open Studios at the BF+DA. BF+DA, which is Pratt’s sustainable fashion incubator, will be shining a light on their our own production space through tours at 4 and 5 pm as well as offering meet and greets and shopping with their in-house fashion brands.
